WHAT WE DO

The University Centre for Development Cooperation (UCOS) is a recognised Belgian NGO which aims to strengthen the global citizenship skills among students in higher education. We work together with our partners and our target audience to achieve sustainable human development by promoting global conscience and active global citizenship, often in relation to North-South student mobility. UCOS is affiliated to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, but cooperates with all institutions of Flemish higher education.

UCOS wishes to form the bridge between internationalisation and development cooperation. As such a strong focus is placed on providing a guiding framework for South mobility of students. We furthermore promote critical thinking among students of Flemish higher education around global issues, development cooperation and sustainable development. Throughout the above, we support teachers and internationalisation officers from higher education institutes to engage with their students on these various themes.
